Ian Palmer

Throughout his formative years of playing drums, Ian spent most of his time in the United States where he divided his time between both New York and Los Angeles. It was in the States that he studied with two legendary innovators of modern drumming, Joe Morello and Peter Erskine.

From numerous sessions and gigs through the 90´s, to performances with leading artists from every genre right up to date. Ian plays every style of music, from Rock and Pop to Jazz and Classical. He has performed alongside many leading and household names including Georgie Fame, Alan Skidmore, Martin Taylor, Michael Brecker, Buddy Greco, Ronnie Scott, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Radio Big Band, Laurence Cottle, Pete King, Guy Barker, Dave O´Higgins, Jane McDonald, Roy Wood, Snake Davis, Bobby Shew, Bob Florence, Lanny Morgan, Don Rader, Humphrey Lyttleton, Alec and Jacqui Dankworth, Passion, Rob McConnell, Nigel Kennedy, Sara Coleman, Jaqui Dankworth, Lianne Caroll, Budapest, Glenn Hughes and Dave Swarbrick.

He is a passionate drum educator/clinician and through his affiliation with Zildjian Cymbals and Vic Firth Drumsticks has completed over a 100 solo drum and speaking engagements. Ian has performed alongside legendary drummers Terry Bozzio, Jeff Hamilton, Thomas Lang, Dom Famularo, Jeff Porcaro, Joe Porcaro, friend Jon Brookes and of course both Uncles, Carl Palmer and Steve Palmer.

He has been a contributing writer to Europe´s leading drumming Magazine ´Rhythm´ and featured on the cover of two issues. He has also been featured in FHM Magazine. He has appeared on TV and radio, in both concerts and interviews. His latest recording ´Impressions of Coltrane´ with tenor saxophonist Alan Skidmore on ITM Records, gained critical acclaim as a leading jazz recording of 2007. Recently Ian has been able to put his experience together to become more involved with the management, production and coordination of artists and events with latest venture Palmerlive.

Oh yeah and he is a qualified airline pilot!! A great role model for us all and no mistaking!!
