Mark Walker is a professional drummer and percussionist, currently playing for 70s prog stars Caravan. The band celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2018, though Mark only joined in 2010 when original drummer Richard Coughlan was no longer able to play. Since then he has toured with the band around the world, playing tracks from their classic albums including The Land Of Grey and Pink, and recorded a new album with the band in 2014, The Paradise Filter. Mark is endorsed by Zildjian Cymbals, Protection Racket cases and Vic Firth sticks.
Mark’s CV includes the West End Production of the Lion King, and as a journalist for Rhythm, the UK's leading drum magazine, contributed hundreds of articles and interviewed many of the world's most famous drummers, including Coldplay's Will Champion and the legendary Steve Gadd. He is author of Xtreme Drums, a fun drum tutorial for beginners published by Music Sales.
In the late 90s and early noughties Mark became established as one of the UK's most prominent participative drum show artists, performing on GMTV, BBC1 and Sky, and at multi-cultural festivals around the UK including regularly at the Rhythmsticks Festival on the Southbank. In addition to playing with Caravan he now organises huge drum workshops and energisers in the corporate market, with over 50 clients from the FTSE Top 100, and runs his own after dinner drum troop, The Drum Waiters
